OCULOPLASTY

The eye is stationed in a bony cage (orbit) that is open in front. The eye lids protect the eye in front. The most common cosmetic problem is drooping of the upper eyelid (ptosis) which if too severe can on occasions lead to lazy eye (amblyopic) in children. The bony orbit as well as the lids could be site of injury related damage. The orbit can also harbour tumors and lead to forward protrusion of the eye (proptosis).
The lacrimal drainage system drains the tears into the nose normally and could be the site of chronic infection (Dacryo cystitis).

Gomabai Nethralaya has performed around 1038 Oculoplastic surgeries.
